How to change the display language in Windows 7?

Windows 7, like Windows Vista, is multilingual, as long as you own one, or Enterprise edition. In this post, we will discover how to install a new language and apply it to the whole system.

Prerequisites

All you need is an Ultimate or Enterprise edition of Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

Install and activate a new language

* Download language: You can get the language packs in two different ways: through Windows Update or by downloading from a site. We'll just describe the first method. See you in the Control Panel and then "Windows Update". In the optional updates, select the language you want and run the installation package. The installed language should replace the current language.

* Change the language: if the language pack is already installed, you must go to the Control Panel and then "Region and Language" and finally in the "Keyboard and Languages". Then select the desired language and confirm. Agree to close your session (after you save your work in progress) and then reconnect.

Choose the default language of the system

Changing the language, however, applies to the current user. The home screen and new user accounts are still using the original language. To change this option, go back to the panel "Region and Language" and select the "Administration" tab. After clicking on the "Copy Settings" you can choose to display language for your session, new user accounts and the home screen. Accept then restart to apply changes
